Family Fun Dog Day @ NHRM

September 19

Free – $15

Family Fun Dog Day @ NHRM

Saturday 19th September, 10am - 5pm

As members of the Military Covenant we are proud to honour the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

Join us on Saturday, 19th September for our Family Fun Dog Day.

Be wowed by the RAF Police Dog Display Team who have been performing in front of Royalty, celebrities and the public all over the world for the last 70+ years. They took the top spot at Crufts 2020 and will be giving our visitors a taste of the outstanding agility, obedience and sheer dedication of the RAF’s finest Military Working Dogs.

Come and meet Kratu, the rescue dog who stole the show at Crufts in 2018, 2019 and 2020. He’s also an assistance dog for his autistic trainer, Tess, as well as the All-party Parliamentary Dog Advisory Welfare Group’s first canine Ambassador. He looks forward to meeting you!

There will also be a BBQ and ice cream van, or you can pre-order a take-away lunch box from The Bakery to enjoy in our new picnic area. Don’t forget to bring a picnic blanket!

RAF Police Dog Display Team

The RAF Police Dog Display Team was formed in June 1949 and is as strong today as it was then. The very first show was performed at the Royal Tournament at Earls Court and the teams have been delighting audiences ever since.

This year’s team is made up of RAF Police Dog Handlers and Military Working Dogs from the RAF’s Main Operating Bases in the United Kingdom and during the normal working day, the RAF Police protect and secure vital Air assets 24/7/365 in both the United Kingdom and overseas. Sadly the 2020 display season has been cut short due to COVID but the team are very much looking forward to performing at the National Horse Racing Museum Open Day on the 19th September.

Kratu The Wonderful Rescue Dog

You might recognise Kratu as the rescue dog who stole the show at Crufts in 2018, 2019 and 2020, but there’s so much more to him than that. He’s an assistance dog for his autistic trainer, Tess, and the All-party Parliamentary Dog Advisory Welfare Group’s first canine Ambassador. Meet him, and watch him perform his comedy routine at the National Horse Racing Museum on Saturday, 19th September!

The Good Companions: The Many Roles of our Canine Friends

The Good Companions is a compelling and engaging exploration of our relationship with dogs down the centuries. Featuring beautiful paintings, drawings, sculptures, photographs, books and objects, even taxidermy of four-legged friends, The Good Companions – like the subjects themselves – is packed with pawsonality.

Visitors can also explore the rest of our 5-acre site in the heart of Newmarket. Meet ex-racehorses in the Rothschild Yard, learn about the history of horse racing and discover Newmarket’s royal connections  – this event is not to be missed! If you don’t manage to explore the museum on 19th September you can upgrade your ticket to an annual pass for only £5!

The Annual Ticket will be dated from the day of your first visit to NHRM and will be valid for 12 months from that date.

All visitors are welcome to bring their dogs, but they must be kept on leads, are only allowed in the outside spaces and must have their vaccinations fully up to date.
